Understanding Animal Reiki

Reiki comes from the Japanese words Rei, meaning spirit, and Ki, meaning energy. Reiki is the spiritual energy or Universal Life Force inside of all of us, animals too! It is "turned on" through the process of Attunement, or a ceremony in which a Master Teacher sets a sacred intention that opens up the flow of the energy in the student, allowing them to channel the energy. The Reiki practitioner can then send the energy to the human or animal, assisting them with self healing. Reiki energy is intelligent, never harms, and only sends the recipient what is in their best interest at the moment. The process of delivering Reiki energy was developed by Master Mikao Usui in the early 1920s and has been safely and lovingly practiced through lineages and apprenticeships since then.

Animal Reiki connects your animal friend to the gentle self healing frequency inside of them, and is used to promote healing and relaxation. Reiki can support domestic and farm animals and even wildlife as it can be done and work just as well from a distance. As the Reiki method works with the animal's energy field, it is important that we allow them to guide the session. We never force animals to receive Reiki and they will receive it for as long as they are willing and ready. Reiki is never harmful and if the animal chooses to leave the session, we honor that decision. Reiki for animals can address physical discomfort, stress, anxiety, fear or trauma. This energy supports overall vitality, calm and a stronger human-animal bond.

You may book sessions for:

Assistance with healing -- for example during times of stress or anxiety.
Reiki to complement medical care and to assist your animal as you follow your Veterinary medicine and healing protocol.
Improving behavior or emotional balance -- anxiety, phobias, past trauma or fearfulness can be soothed.
Supporting your aging animal as they move towards the end of life process.
Enhancing the human-animal connection -- Reiki will strengthen your bond with your animal friend as they come into harmony and balance.
Promoting the well-being of animals in shelters or rescue environments. Since Reiki can be done from any location, there is no need for the animal to come into human contact.
Providing ongoing wellness and support -- even healthy pets can benefit from energy balancing.

How a Session Works

Every animal is different. Some open quickly and welcome energy work right away and others need some time to observe or warm up. This is why I allow the animal to lead and do not use any force or expectation. I follow the animal's cues, boundaries and natural pace. We discuss in advance whether coming to your home/the animal or working from my healing room to send distant Reiki would be best. I always start out the session a few feet from the animal, and in some cases it is very appropriate to have a barrier between myself and the animal. The animal may wish to come closer to me over time. Reiki works just as well from a distance and there is no need for me to touch the animal at all, if that is in the animal's best interest. You can book 30 or 60 minute sessions. Shorter sessions are gentle introductions and work beautifully for animals who process energy quickly. It's also more appropriate for small animals who may be very sensitive to energy. A longer session gives the animal space to lead, pause, release and reopen. Many animals take time to settle fully and the extra time allows for deeper healing and to support larger animals. 60 minutes is also more appropriate for more than one animal or a group of animals on a farm or in a daycare, shelter or rescue.

A note: If I come to your home/the animal's environment, the charge will be at least $75, even if the animal elects not to receive Reiki that day. The charge is for my knowledge and time. On a positive note, we can take that time to discuss protocol and/or I can offer you as Animal Guardian a short Reiki session during the allotted time.

Animal Reiki Healing Session 30 min: $75 Package of 3: $195; package of 4: $255 | Animal Reiki Session 60 min: $125 Package of 3: $345; package of 4: $455 | Animal Reiki Workshop, 90 min $33 per person, at least 5 people required for it to run. *All in person sessions will be charged a fee of at least $75 regardless of session outcomes.

**Healing sessions are conducted either in the animal's environment or from my healing room at a distance. As everything is energy, in person treatment does not work better, it is simply different. Sometimes in person sessions are not as safe for me or the animal, and working from my healing room, will be in the best interest of us both. We will discuss and agree upon the best method during our communications.
